ClefWorks, Montgomery’s unique interactive music festival and education program, announced Monday that Leah Stephens has accepted the position of executive director, effective June 1, 2008.
Stephens is currently serving as President of the Junior League of Montgomery, and will begin her work with ClefWorks when that term ends.
Married to Ken Stephens, Leah is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Alabama with a B.A. in advertising, followed by a law degree from the university’s School of Law. She spent more than 13 years practicing law in Montgomery and is active in the community.
She teaches First Grade Choir at First Baptist Church, Montgomery, and sings in the church’s Sanctuary Choir. She is a former board member of the Janice Capilouto Center for the Deaf, Montgomery Habitat for Humanity, and Neighbors in Christ, Inc. She enjoys painting and has been a student of local artist Dot Robinson for several years.
“Leah will be an excellent addition to the ClefWorks team and the Board looks forward to working with her this spring as our chamber music organization continues to grow,” said Elmore DeMott, president of ClefWorks Board of Directors.
ClefWorks’ second season, dubbed “Stay Tuned 2008,” includes outreach opportunities with the Cancer Wellness Foundation of Central Alabama, the YMCA, Booker T. Washington (BTW) High School, Baldwin Junior High, and Carver Elementary.
